Ghana Immigration Service Deports 54 Nigerians Without ‘Travel Documents’
EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Ghana Immigration Service’s Bono East Regional Command has deported at least 54 Nigerians.
According to GhanaWeb, the repatriation of Nigerians was verified by the Bono East Regional Commander of GIS, Assistant Commissioner of Immigration (ACI), Francis Annor.
According to Annor, the Nigerians were apprehended on Sunday, December 5, 2021. The Nigerians were believed to have entered the West African country without legal travel documents.
They were processed the next day and returned to their home country on Thursday, December 9.
There were 52 men and two women among the returned colleagues.
The Regional Commander revealed that the GIS detained and returned a bus load of Togolese citizens last month in a similar operation.
According to the commander, the foreigners entered the country illegally using motorbikes and tricycles and with the help of some residents in the region, converged at Tuobodom before hiring a bus to travel to their final destinations.
He further advised residents of the Bono East Region to desist from aiding expatriates from entering the country illegally.
