A 54-year-old woman, identified as Olabisi Olawoye, was on Friday arraigned before an Ebute-Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, for allegedly posing as a Police Superintendent (SP) to defraud a Chief Magistrate.
The defendant, who was brought before the court on a charge of impersonation, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Kehinde Omisakin, told the court that the defendant committed the offence in the month of August 2018 at Magistrate Court 1, Ogba, Lagos.
She said that the defendant had personated as a Police Supt. attached to the Surveillance Section, State CID, Panti, in a bid to defraud Chief Magistrate Yewande Aje.
The offence, Omisakin noted, contravened Section 380(1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs. A.O. Komolafe, however, admitted the accused to bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties each in like sum, with evidence of tax payments to the Lagos state government for the last three years.
She, however, fixed June 6, for further hearing of the case.
