A 65-year-old man, Ezekiel Adewale, was on Wednesday, remanded in correctional custody for allegedly raping an 11-year-old girl.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Abdulhamid Lawal, of Ado-Ekiti Magistrates Court ordered that the case file be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for advice after he failed to take the plea of the defendant.

According to the prosecutor, Inspector Caleb Leranmo, the defendant committed the offence at Efon-Alaye Ekiti, had defiled the girl on three occasions, a crime that contravenes Section 31(2) of the Child Right Law of Ekiti, 2012.
The Chief Magistrate adjourned the case till December 18 for mention.
