Many homes consume tomatoes to make paste and stews for scrumptious dishes like white rice, jollof rice, white yam, porridge, soups, and just to mention a few.
If you enjoy delicious tomato stews, you may want to continue to do so during the season when tomatoes are abundant, as well as equally enjoy them during the season when they are scares.
In this article on EKO HOT BLOG, we would be looking at some simple ways to preserve tomatoes without refrigerating them.
1. Thoroughly wash your fresh tomatoes. By doing this, you will clear the tomatoes’ surfaces of any bacteria as well as any debris that might interfere with their appearance. Furthermore, giving your tomatoes a good wash can help them keep their freshness.
2. Add a little salt and water to your cleaned tomatoes in a pot. It only needs three minutes to steam.
3. Remove the water from the tomatoes and blend them thoroughly. Both mechanical and electrical methods of blending are effective for this.
4. Boil the blended tomatoes for the desired amount of time to let the water content evaporate. It is much better to allow it to get to its thick state.
5. Pour the tomato paste into a glass container that you can tightly cover, such as an empty mayonnaise glass bottle. After that, tightly cover the glass container
6. Warm the glass container and its contents for two minutes by placing your tomato paste in a covered glass container inside a pot with a little water.
7. At this point, you can keep your tomato paste anywhere you like, but most preferably in a place with a cool or warm temperature.
You should use your tomato paste within three weeks. According to studies, this method is best if you wish to purchase tomatoes in large quantities at a discount and consume them gradually over three weeks.
