He recalled the recent celebration of his set’s 50th anniversary since graduating from Molusi College, stating that,
“We just celebrated 50 years of leaving school so it’s been 50 years, and we are celebrating 75 years of this great institution. My set has been part of the story. As a matter of fact, it is 55 years because we spent 5 years then we finished this school 50 years ago. So it’s a very special moment.”
He mentioned how dear the award meant to him, while also lauding the impact of the school in shaping his life.
“I have been given so many awards in my life but nothing compares to that which I received today. I feel so humble and highly honored to have been chosen for this recognition,” the Epe chief said.
“This school made me who I am today because when I walked out of this school 1973, not only did I walk out with my certificate but I walked out with the ethics that has actually guide me all my life, that made me become who I am today.”
Abass expressed gratitude to Molusi College and everyone who influenced him, including teachers, administrators, and classmates, for inspiring him throughout his life. He feels nostalgic reflecting on his time at the school.

He said, “There is no shortcut to success; you just have to go out there and give your best to the world, and the best will come back to you. There is a relationship between hard work and success; that’s what they made us understand. That’s our motto, only the best, nothing but the best is good for the world.
“The 1969/73 set is one of the best sets ever in the history of this school. The global president is from our set, the global vice president who is the chairman of the anniversary committee, the global secretary is from my set, the global ex officio is from our set. We have four executive members from my set. I don’t want to create controversy by saying it’s the best set, but it’s one of the best sets.
“They are the working around with other members to put together a very successful program. It’s been one week, and there are other programs tomorrow and next. There are so many projects that have been commissioned.”
