An 86-year-old man, Umoru Samuel, was on Saturday, October 19, killed while trying to separate his son and a neighbour fighting over a misunderstanding at
Okeagbe Akoko in Akoko North West Local Government Area of Ondo State.
Pa Samuel was allegedly pushed by the neighbour, Leye Rufus Abeleje, who lived at Oge quarters of Okeagbe Akoko, which resulted in the death of the 86-year-old man.
According to a source, all efforts to save the life of the old man were not successful as he died before getting to the hospital where he was confirmed dead.
The source explained that octogenarian who was recuperating from an illness died while separating his son and Abeleje who were fighting.
He said the old man tried to pacify Abeleje who was beating the man’s son and was eventually pushed by Abeleje which led to his death.
Confirming the incident, the Area Commander of Ikare unit of the Ondo State Police Command, Razak Rauf, said the suspect had been arrested while investigation has begun into the matter.
