Ekohotblog, September 5, 2020….Tears in Edo state as 9-year-old girl, Habiba tragically rot to death after being allegedly raped by a 60-year-old ritualist.

A human right activist and founder of Brave Hearts Initiative, Priscilla Usiobaifo, confirmed that the chief confessed to the crime and begged for forgiveness.

Ekohotblog gathered that shortly after apologizing, the chief fled the community when he discovered that the girl’s parents demanded for justice.

According to the report, Habiba’s body started rotting on June 11, 2020. She also started suffering seizures hours after the rape incident.

Then she became unwell and her health continued to deteriorate, causing people to suggest that she had been raped for rituals.

Reports said that rashes appeared on Habiba’s skin and her skin started peeling last week.

She died last Saturday, August 29, while she was being transferred to a more advanced hospital where she was expected to get better care.

Police at the Igarra division in Akoko-Edo, Edo state, have reportedly made repeated attempts to capture the chief, all to no avail as the chief is said to be on the run.

Ms Usiobaifo sharing the tragedy on social media revealed that Habiba had become so deformed before her death that it was extremely difficult  to recognize.
