The Kano State authority has confirmed the arrest of 93 commercial sex workers adding that, 23 of the prostitutes were HIV positive.
The commercial sex workers were said to have been arrested at Badume Junction in Bichi Local government area of Kano State.
The Hisbah commandant Shiek Muhammad Haruna, disclosed the development to newsmen on Thursday.
He revealed that the commercial sex workers were apprehended at a popular Badume Joint in Bichi Local Government area of the State. Adding that, the joint harbors various criminal activities.
Haruna also stressed that the raid was to sanitize the environment in line with the state’s law against prostitution and other criminal social vices.
The Commandant said “Out of the number arrested 23 women and four men were tested HIV positive by a medical doctor.”
