Oyo Governor Pays Tributes To Jemibewon At 80

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde has celebrated the first military governor of the state, retired Gen. David Jemibewon, on his 80th birthday.
The Governor sent his tribute via a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Taiwo Adisa, on Monday in Ibadan.
In the Governor’s tribute, he described Jemibewon as goal-getter, noting that his legacy will remain a foundation to guide the young ones.

He said, “On behalf of the government and the people, I celebrate with you, Gen. David Medayese Jemibewon, first Military Governor of Oyo State, as you clock 80 years today.
“As pioneer Oyo state military governor, you laid foundations that have remained solid to date.
“You built systems and structures that we continue to be proud of.
“Thank you for everything you have been and done for our dear state.
“As you reach the 80th birthday landmark, I pray to God to give you good health and strength to continue to guide the generations behind you and to reap the reward of your labour,” the statement quoted the governor as saying.
Jemibewon was first appointed governor of Western State and later, the first military governor of Oyo State between 1976 and 1978 following the creation of the state.
He later served as a Minister of Police Affairs in the cabinet of President Olusegun Obasanjo after the return to democracy (1999 to 2000).
He was a contender for the Kogi West Senatorial District in Kogi State.
