A Nigerian Pastor identified as Pastor Humble Okoro has reburied late 46-year-old black American, George Floyd.
The pastor reburied Floyd in Mbaise, Imo State saying he is an Igbo man and needed to return to his roots.
Pastor Okoro said after tracing the ancestral root of George Obinna Floyd to Umuoffor kindred in Obokwu obibi Aboh Mbaise Imo State, he feels so happy that he has been reburied alongside with his ancestors.
On May 25, 2020, George Floyd, a 46-year-old black American man, was killed in Minneapolis, Minnesota, during an arrest for allegedly using a counterfeit bill.
Derek Chauvin, a white police officer, knelt on Floyd’s neck for almost eight minutes while Floyd was handcuffed and lying face down, begging for his life and repeatedly saying “I can’t breathe”.
Officers J. Alexander Kueng and Thomas Lane further restrained Floyd, while officer Tou Thao prevented bystanders from intervening.
During the final two minutes, Floyd was motionless and had no pulse while Chauvin ignored onlookers’ pleas to remove his knee, which he did not do until medics told him to.
GEORGE Floyd, whose death sparked widespread protests against police brutality, was laid to rest at a private funeral in Houston.
Floyd was buried in a grave next to his mother.
Hundreds of mourners filled the Fountain of Praise church as the service got underway, capping five days of public memorials in Minneapolis, North Carolina and Houston.
