Ireti Doyle urges actors to focus on film royalties rather than short term gains
As a Nigerian actress who has been around for some time, Ireti Doyle, has earned the right to take on certain issues as a way of guiding younger elements in Nollywood.
That is precisely what the 52-year-old Fifty actress did in an Instagram post on Tuesday urging actors to consider role negotiations with film producers as absolutely important.
According to her, producers in this part of the world tend to sideline the fact that film money as far as royalties are concerned, is supposed to last forever.
“Let us bear in mind that the negotiation is not just for time and talent during the actual shoot, but more importantly, the rights to use one’s name, image and likeness (any which way Sir/Madam Producer decides) AND the right to assign same rights to any third party of their choosing ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD, AD- INFINITUM,” the Tinsel star wrote in the post.
Going a bit personal as she wrote further, the actress who used to be married to veteran actor, Patrick Doyle, directed at producers thus: “Let us be all guided please, and miss me with that “it’s only 2 scenes half-day shoot” bovine manure of an argument. My boobs may be small, but they’ve been there for 52 years. Enough.”
