- Lagos LG Boss, Babatunde Oke Didn’t Die Of COVID-19, Aide Refutes Claims
The Chairman of Onigbongbo Local Council Development Area of Lagos State, Mr. Babatunde Oke, did not die from COVID-19 complications, An aide to the chairman revealed.
Reports going viral suggests that Babatunde Oke died from COVID-19 complications.
Reacting to this, the chief press secretary of the council, Ishmael Akerele, debunked the claim, noting that he died after a brief illness unconnected to the COVID-19.

Akerele said, “Sequel to the widespread rumor that Hon. Babatunde Oke died of COVID-19 complications, and I wish to state emphatically that the former executive chairman of Onigbongbo LCDA died after a brief illness.
“While we reflect on the passing of a great leader and astute politician, rumor mongers must not use this medium to distract his immediate families and political associates from the peaceful mourning the late Hon. Babatunde Oke deserves.
“I pray that almighty God grant his household the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.
“And may his soul rest in peace as we continue to reflect on the life and times of late Hon. Babatunde Oke,” he wrote.
Sources had stated that Oke, has been sick for sometime but recovered, only to fall ill again late last week due to the stress from the last Sallah celebration.
