Olu Epe At 82: Sanwo-Olu Felicitates With Monarch, Promises To Develop Epe Town

Traditional and modern political administration are no doubt two sides of a coin that can not be separated. For the utmost purpose of entrenching democratic ideals with far reaching projects and programmes beneficial to the populace, the synergies between both the old and new political arrangement can not be over stretched.

The Olu Of Epe, Oba Shefiu Adewale, has called on youths not to see their disciplinarian parents as wicked and selfish persons but as those who are genuinely interested in their life and who want the best for them.

The monarch made the call on occasion of his 82nd birthday celebration which took place on October first.

He noted that his father’s disciplinarian nature made him stand out among his peers.

He said ” Our children, discipline by your parents is not suffering or being wicked. It made me stand out. Be proud of your parents so that you will be successful”

“My disciplinarian father, who is of blessed memory is Mudashir Adewale, UAC General Manager. I was born in Ijebu-Ode General Hospital. I studied at Native Authority Primary School Agbojo in Ibadan where I met Hamzat. After my father died, I lived with M.D Shile at Oke-Balogun. I would trek 6-7 miles distance despite the fact that my father owned a car from Abogojo to Sabo in Mokonla. At Igunpa, I would buy “eko” and “robo” while going to school in the morning. My father relocated to Ilesha where I had my schooling up to standard five before coming back home after his demise”.

In His Royal Majesty’s brief address to the good people of Epe kingdom, Oba Shefiu Adewale expressed elation and how glad he was to be celebrated.

He offered prayers for prosperity, progress and development for the community. While he briefly intimated the gathering with his background, He also briefly thanked Lagos state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu for celebrating with him and promising to execute more developmental projects in Epe.

“I thank God almighty and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, he sent his greetings to my Olori, the Grand Chief Imam, all Alfas and the good people of Epe Kingdom.

” Governor Sanwo-Olu has directed the Deputy Governor, Mr. Obafemi Hamzat to take care of the two major roads leading to Epe and other infrastructural needs”, he said

In related development, a football competition was organized in honour of Oba Shefiu Adewale by the distinguished leadership of Mr. Edu Muhseen Olajide, President, Epe Youth Forum. The competition took place at the historic Popo-Oba Square. the sporting event was well attended by Baales and Chiefs of the kingdom.

At the sporting event, the Olu Epe, Oba Shefiu Adewale ably representd by Otunba TJ Abass, The Aremo of Epe Kingdom began the kick off where his curling kick rolled into the goal post. Winners that emerged in the entertaining and breath-taking football competition in ascending order are Salako FC, Odo-Egiri FC, AUD FC and Popo-Oba FC.

Present at the event are Chief Wale Mogaji, Otunba TJ Abass, Ottun Sarumi, Chief Ajiborisha, the Bashorun of Epe, Chief Kadri Odedeogboro and others. Dr. Babatunde Mustapha, CMD Epe General Hospital, Alhaji Segun Raheem, NUT National Treasurer and Turaki Adinni of Epe Central Mosque, Oke-Balogun, Ahaja Olusola Alade Raji, Mrs. Kosoko Osideko and other great sons and daughters of Epe kingdom were ably represented. Also, groups present at the ceremony are Epe Development Association, Epe Youth Forum, Young Boys, Alen Base, Royal Circle, Enu Owa Base, Oju-Ina Base and others.
