Two Reportedly Killed In Delta, Kano As Police Teargas FCT Protesters

  • A combined team of soldiers and police has fired tear gas to protesters in an attempt to disperse them, after two persons were feared killed.

In Delta State during the protest in the town, a 13year-old boy, was yesterday, killed in Sapele,

According to eyewitnesses, the teenager jumped unto a moving empty truck but lost control and fell on the tarred road, smashing his head on the surface.

He died on his way to the hospital, as injuries sustained was severe.

At Sapele end of the Benin-Warri expressway,  many protesters had gathered at the early as 9:00a.m.

Roads linking  Warri Prison were blocked by policemen and soldiers to stop a repeat of the Benin jailbreak

Soldiers and police mounted surveillance on Okere Road and restricted motorists using the link to the correctional centre.

There was chaos in Kano, as 17-year-old, Saifullahai Abdullah, was allegedly killed by the police.

The news of his death triggered angry youths taking over the main roads as they protest for justice.

Saifullahai’s killing came as protest against police brutality and harassment dominated major cities of the country

He was reportedly murdered by a patrol team on Sunday night at about 12 midnight in front of his friends, right in the presence of his residents within the metropolis.

According to reports, the police spokesperson in the state, DSP Abdullahi Haruna, promised to respond when he gets full details.

During the protest yesterday, police officers fired teargas at protesters in Abuja.

The Protesters were stopped at John Kennedy Street, as they attempted to march through the back gate of the Presidential Villa, The Guardian learnt.

While trying to disperse the protesters, the security agents fired tear gas.

Reports claim soldiers had earlier mounted a barricade at the popular AYA Roundabout within the FCT.

Efforts to reach out to security agencies were unsuccessful.
