- Hoodlums burn down Nnamdi Azikiwe’s statue in Onitsha, Anambra State
- The Hoodlums accused Nnamdi Azikiwe of being responsible for the problem of Nigeria.
- Nnamdi Benjamin Azikiwe, referred to as “Zik”, was a Nigerian statesman and political leader who served as the first President of Nigeria from 1963 to 1966.
A mob in Onitsha, Anambra state reportedly set the statue of the former President of Nigeria, the late Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe ablaze.
Ekohotblog reported that a peaceful protest intended to correct the excesses of the Police department, SARS was however attacked by hoodlums.
For days now, the hoodlums have attacked in several states, looting and destroying things across the nation including, Lagos, Osun, and others.
Our correspondent confirmed that the statue of the former president, Nnamdi Azikwe was located at Denis Memorial Grammar School Roundabout, Awka Avenue, Onitsha, known as Zik Roundabout.

The statue which represented a national heritage and a remembrance for what Nnamdi Azikwe stood for was razed down with fire.
As the image burns down, the hoodlums we’re heard accusing Azikiwe of causing the problem of Nigeria.
The mob were shouting “You put us in this mess by championing one Nigeria,” “You are the cause of our trouble,” amongst other unpleasant remarks.
