‘Anambra Communities Not Involved In Lagos Looting’

Published

The Association of Anambra State Development Unions has dissociated itself from the recent looting and destruction of properties by hoodlums in different parts of Lagos State.

While reacting to the violence unleashed by hoodlums who hijack the #EndSARS protest in the state, the association, in a statement by its President, Vincent Osakwe, and Publicity Secretary, Ejike Metu, on Friday, said its members were ‘builders and not destroyers’.

It said AASDU was the umbrella body of more than 177 towns of Anambra extraction in Lagos.

It, therefore, absolved its members from what it described as provocative and unwarranted statements that its members were involved in the wanton destruction of properties in the state.

ASDU commiserated with those whose properties were destroyed and called for the immediate and total end of the act.

The statement added, “Lagos has been and will continue to be home to the Igbo. AASDU appreciates the convivial environment the state of excellence has given to the Igbo to ventilate their individual and collective ambitions without let or hindrance. We know our leaders and we also know those who speak for the Igbo.

“Therefore, the seed of ethnic discord being sown by a segment of those jealous of the purposeful relationship between AASDU and its landlord should not only be nipped in the bud forthwith, but also roundly discouraged by men of goodwill in the state.”
