“We’re Proud Of You” – Buhari Hails Bauchi Youths For Ignoring #EndSARS Protests
President Muhammadu Buhari has lauded the youths in Bauchi for their reaction towards the #EndSARS demonstration.
Buhari at a town hall meeting in Bauchi on Monday commended youths in the state for not taking part in the two-week long public agitation against police brutality.
The president had constituted a delegation to engage with governors, the youth, religious leaders, traditional rulers and other stakeholders across the country for the purpose of reconciliation and national development.
According to NAN, Buhari, who was represented by Adamu Adamu, minister of education, commended the youth for their “maturity”, and promised that his administration would continue to work towards ensuring sustainable development.
“I’m very happy with the government and people of Bauchi state for their exceptional maturity in responding to national challenges such as the recent #EndSARS protests,” Adamu said, while speaking on behalf of the president.
“As your representatives in government, we are very proud of the comportment of the youth in particular, and the generality of the people in the state, in the face of current hardship.
“We are also aware that the hardship has been compounded by the economic downtown occasioned by the global crash in the prices of oil, and the ravaging effects of COVID-19 pandemic.
“Notwithstanding the hardship, you were wise enough not to adopt a solution which will inflict more hardship than the initial problem.”
He urged the youth to resist instigation by subversive elements to cause chaos and socio-economic disruption, adding that discussions were ongoing with local communities to understand their grievances in order to find lasting solutions to them
