Iyaloja, Women Leaders Kidnapped On Way To Meeting
One Iyaloja, and five other women leaders on their way to a meeting of Iyalojas are still held captive after they were abducted along the Akure/Iwo highway in Ondo state.
There were 16 victims abducted but the captors have released ten, causing apprehension in the state and beyond, on the fate of those still held.
Still with the kidnappers are the Iyaloja of Isua Akoko In Akoko North East council area of the state, Chief Mrs Helen Edward and some other women leaders who were on their way to the state capital of Akure, for the monthly meeting of Iyalaje, iyalojas and women leaders when the incident happened.
The journey was going well until at a point between Ogbese and Uso, according to Vanguard.
The abductors appeared from nowhere and forced the vehicle to a stop before whisking the women.
The abductors however reportedly released the driver of the bus to go home and inform the families of the victims.
Meanwhile, their abduction had created apprehension and anxiety in the ancient city, especially since the motive was yet to be clearly ascertained.
Confirming the abduction involving the Iyaloja and the others, the state police Public Relations Officer, Tee Leo lkoro said that the police detectives and other security personnel who rescued 10 of the victims had apprehended four of the kidnappers.
He said that the remaining victims would soon be rescued unhurt by the police.
The police spokesperson said that police detectives are presently combing the forest where the victims were hidden.
In the interim, family members and friends of the victims are in anxiety praying for safe rescue of their beloved ones.
