Nigerian Man Who Returned From South Africa Dies In Lagos Party
Five friends have been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for the death of a South African returnee, according to a report by SaharaReporters.
The friends were arrested for the death of one Endurance Ero, who had just returned from South Africa, and went out with the suspects to a party in the Surulere area.
Police officers said, in an incident report obtained by SaharaReporters, that Ero, while having drinks with friends, two men and three women, collapsed and was rushed to Randle Hospital, Surulere, where some doctors on duty they certified dead.
Thereafter, Area C agents arrested the five friends identified as Kelvin Ajayi, Endurance Ajayi and women, Hope Igbinedion, Miracle Ubani and Chinasa Anthony.
Family sources told SaharaReporters that the deceased had returned from South Africa on October 17, before deciding to hang out with friends at the Rush Guest House located on Oyekan Street, Surulere, the next day.
In the police report, Ero’s mother, Matunwo Chichi, said: “My son and his friend, Osagie, returned from South Africa on October 17 around 3 pm. Then, around 6 in the afternoon on the same date, he left the house wanting to visit his friend’s mother, but did not return home.
“On October 18, at approximately 11 in the morning, they called me on the phone and told me that they had rushed him to Randle General Hospital, Surulere, and when I got there, I found him in a wheelchair, with blood coming out from your mouth and nose. Then the doctors on duty declared him dead ”.
Although a direct link to the death of the returnee had not yet been established, the police report indicated that the suspects and the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Yaba, for a “discreet investigation”.
The police report said: “The preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased was in the company of Kelvin Ajayi, Endurance Ajayi and women, Hope Igbinedion, Miracle Ubani and Chinasa Anthony and they went to drink at a guest house, called Rush located on Oyekan Street, Surulere.
Suddenly the deceased collapsed and began to vomit blood into his mouth and nose. They rushed him to the hospital, but the doctors on duty certified him dead. Photographs were taken of his corpse and his corpse was deposited in the General Hospital of Mainland, Yaba, for an autopsy.
“The above mentioned suspects have been arrested and the case will be transferred to SCID, Panti, Yaba, for a discreet investigation.”
