Over 350 million people globally expected to watch today’s Champions League final

No fewer than 350 million people across the world are billed to watch the Champions League final holding in Madrid today, according to broadcast data.

With Liverpool and Tottenham facing off in the second all-Premier League European final in a matter of days, available data shows competition will be watched by an estimated worldwide audience of more than 350 million from over 200 nations.

Also, the encounter between the two Premier League rivals, who both came from losing the first leg of their semi-final matches to reach the final, is guaranteed to land a massive cash windfall on the winner at the Wanda Metropolitano.

With UEFA having confirmed the prize money for the 2018-19 Champions League last June, stating that the winning finalist will earn €19 million (£16.8m/$21.2m) while the runners-up get €15m.

Having already accumulated a good deal more prize money on their way to the final, they have both earned €15.25m, with each knockout round earning them between €9.5m and €15m, totaling €32m.

Also, each point that the sides earned in the group phase was worth €900,000, meaning that Liverpool earned €8.1m and Tottenham took home €7.2m, meaning will take Liverpool’s prize money to €74.35m. If Tottenham wins the final, they will pocket €73.45m.

Those earnings are different from the €292m available for distribution between the participating Champions League teams based on the value of the television market, which is highest in England.
