As part of ongoing efforts to rescue scores of recently abducted students in Katsina State, the Presidency has disclosed that the President is in close consultations with Governor Bello Masari of Katsina State and the Headquarters of the Nigerian army.
This was contained in a statement released by the Presidency via its official Twitter handle on Saturday.
Eko Hot Blog had earlier reported that an unspecified number Students of Government Science Secondary School Kankara in Katsina State were abducted on Friday night after gunmen suspected to be bandits invaded the community.

The Presidency also assured that the military is being supported by air power, and that the President has given explicit instruction for the neutralization of the hostiles without causing any fatal harm to the kidnapped children, but many are apprehensive that an airstrike could turn out to be a loose canon that may endanger the lives of the abducted school children.
The Military operation is being supported by air power. The President has charged the security personnel to ensure that the attackers are neutralised and that no student gets missing or harmed.

The President has also directed the reinforcement of security of all schools in line with the safe schools policy of the administration.
