The Lagos State government has empowered People Living with HIV/AIDS in the State with tools, training, and startup donations for self-establishment and financial liberation. The Lagos State Government has supported and granted donations for people with HIV.

Eko Hot Blog learned that the CEO, LSSCA, Dr. Monsurat Adeleke stated that the State will continue to give top priority to all the needs of HIV/AIDS clients in the State.

She said: “As the pioneer agency for the management and control of HIV/AIDS in Nigeria, LSACA will continue to blaze the trail regarding the fight against the disease in the State by placing People Living with HIV/AIDS in Lagos first”.

Attributing to the successful celebration of the World Aids Days some two weeks ago as well as the flag-off by the First Lady of Lagos State, Dr. (Mrs.) Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, of the use of oral self-testing kits in the Southwest, Dr. Adeleke said the gesture of the empowerment program was a follow-up to the promises made during the celebration and most importantly, a reflection of the inclusive government belief of the Babajide Sanwo-Olu administration.

While underlining the significance of the empowerment program and the collaborative strides of the Agency with other line Ministries in the State, the CEO stated that 50 beneficiaries were carefully selected in this category with free four weeks of vocational training from the Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.

She said: “It will be difficult to obliterate HIV/AIDS if the economic empowerment of our clients is not considered. It is realized that if one is hungry, there is the likelihood of beginning on risk-taking behaviors, therefore this empowerment initiative has become imperative”

“It also gladdens my heart to inform all our beneficiaries that one of our line ministries, the Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation has partnered with LSACA to give a free four-week vocational training as part of their contributions to mitigating the spread of HIV/AIDS in the State”, she added.

Also, in the essence of evidence-based programming, Dr. Adeleke allotted another set of beneficiaries with grants for their fourth meetings coordination to ensure the capturing of the non-health data for precise planning and system enactment.
