COVID-19: Niger Govt Asks Civil Servants To Stay At Home

The Governor of Niger State, Abubakar Bello, has ordered that all civil servants stay at home from December 21, 2020 following an increase in the number of COVID-19 cases recorded in the state.

According to the governor, the decision is aimed at averting a second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Governor’s directive was contained in a statement issued on Thursday by the Head of Service, Salamatu Abubakar.

The statement also stated that the workers are to stay at home till further notice.

The directive however does not include essential workers.

Niger State has recorded 302 cases of COVID-19 with 12 deaths in seventeen local government areas.

Eko Hot Blog recalls that Governor Bello had announced that he had tested positive for the Coronavirus, but recovered a week later.
