UEFA Announces Delay In Introduction Of New Rules
European football governing body, UEFA, has announced that new rules planned to be introduced in European football will not apply for Nations League finals in Portugal this week.
Making this known on Tuesday, UEFA, saying the rules concerning penalty-taking, free-kicks and accidental handballs will not be introduced until June 25.
The rules, unveiled in March following approval by Football’s lawmakers (IFAB), were to come into effect at the start of this month before UEFA made the latest announcement.
Also excluded from matches to be affected by the new regulations are the next two rounds of Euro 2020 qualifying billed for between June 7 and 11.
The rules affect the handball law, where goalkeepers have to stay during penalties and how attacking players have to position themselves from defensive walls during free-kicks and substitutions among others.
