EKO HOT BLOG  learned that the President of the Union who made this known in a New Year’s message has noticed this so far, a number of states failed to meet the new national minimum wage.

The statement said, “As a result, we are asking all of our state councils still grappling with their state governments on payment of the national minimum wage and consequential salary increase and those whose salaries were unilaterally reduced by the state governments and are owing the wage arrears of workers to prepare for collective action and protests this New Year.”

The NLC appealed to the federal government as well to “to provide an environment that is conducive to job creation and full employment.”

According to Wabba, Unemployment and poverty are great recipes for breaking public order.

The organized Labour unions who decided to mobilise the protest within the first week of January 2021 comprise of Nigeria Labour Congress, Trade Union Council, and Joint Negotiating Council.

The labour required State Governor Kayode Fayemi to pay for all promotions and salary arrears to all classes of workers as negotiated, to avoid work disorders at Ekiti.

According to reports, the union, during a meeting held on Tuesday, insists on paying the minimum wage, as agreed by the state government and the unions on Tuesday, and actual implementation starting in January.
