2021 Will Be Glorious, Exceptional Year – Olu Epe Of Epe

The Olu-Epe of Epe Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Oba Dr Shefiu Adewale, Bamgbopa Eshinlokun I, has expressed optimism about how things will unfold in 2021 after a troubling and devastating 2020.
Speaking with Ekohotblog at the annual interdenominational prayers organised by the monarch, Oba Adewale relished the prospect of good tidings and glories the new year has in stock.
The low key event, which abided by COVID protocols, was held at the ancestral Royal palace of Olu-Epe on the first day of the new year.
The motive of the annual prayers was strategic to pray for the peace, progress and accomplishment of the good people of Epe kingdom in their endeavours.
Kabiesi heaped praises the altruism and people-oriented virtues of Lagos State Governor, His Excellency, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for facilitating the reconstruction of the first phase of Lagos-Epe expressway from Eleko junction to Epe T-junction.
He also lauded the Speaker, House of Representatives, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila for adopting the Itokin-Epe Road project which was facilitated by Hon. Wale Raji.
” Today as the first day of January 2021, we launch the new year with prayers which started by 11 a.m. the prayers are offered by all denominational groups such as Muslims, Christians and Traditionalists.
The essence is to call on to Almighty God to make our people progress and prosper in their endeavours. It is also meant to pray to God for peace to continue to reign in Epe Kingdom, Lagos State and the entire nation.
“I give kudos to our Governor, His Excellency, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for commissioning the 6 lane road network from Eleko junction to Epe T-junction. May Almighty Allah grant him the wisdom to succeed in office. From the depth of my heart, I remarkably relish the resolve of the leader of House of Representatives, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila for adopting the Itokin-Epe road through the working relationship he has with our son, Hon. Wale Raji. That has really given all of us in Epe a sigh of relief and it shows that we have a listening and responsive representatives of the people “.
” From 4 pm, we will also invite two elderly people, a male and a female each, from across the six wards, to felicitate with them and appreciate God almighty that they made it to the new year. The elderly ones also offer prayers, they dance and rub minds with people in the gathering. After that, we give them gifts and food packs to take home. That’s how we do it every year “, Olu-Epe said.
Speaking further, Oba Shefiu Adewale was hopeful of a prosperous new year devoid of havoc and adversity.
As regards his expectations, Kabiesi harped on wealth creation for the youths, peaceful coexistence and drastic reduction in the high price of goods. Besides, he admonished all and sundry to be steadfast in worshipping God.
“I expect that we enjoy a better year, ten times better than what we had in 2020. Last year was very terrible for everybody in the whole world, not only in Nigeria. People said it was because last year was a leap year but we are expectant that this year usher in better tidings.
“My main concern is youth unemployment, we expect that more jobs and wealth will be created, there will be peace in the community, we expect the skyrocketing price of goods to come down, above all, we should all go back to God “, he averred.
According to our source in the Royal palace, the high point of the event was the presentation of an award of excellence to HRM Oba Dr Shefiu Adewale by the leadership of Christian Association of Nigeria CAN led by Rev. Tunde Taiwo.
Notable religious groups who graced the function includes the Ulamas from First Epe Central Mosque, Oke-Balogun led by the Grand Chief Imam, Alhaji Abdulrahman Abiola Sadala, Epe Central Mosque Ita-Opo led by Chief Imam Alhaji Lateef Oladipupo, members from Ansar-Ud-Deen society of Nigeria, Anwarul Islam, NASFAT, QUAREEB and their Alasalatu groups. Executives of the Christian Association of Nigeria CAN and members of the Association of Traditional Medical Herbalists. Baales, Chiefs, Olu-Epe in Council, Mogaji in Council and a host of others were also present.
