BREAKING: At Last, Trump Accepts Defeat, Pledges Smooth Transition
U.S. President Donald Trump has at last conceded to President-elect Joe Biden after a drawn out unfounded claim of electoral fraud.
CNN is reporting that Trump’s concession is consequent upon the congress certification of Biden’s Electoral College victory.
Biden, the democratic candidates during the November poll, had defeated incumbent Trump both in popular votes and electoral college votes.
Biden exceeded the vital 270 threshold in the Electoral College votes on Thursday morning, sealing his place as the 46th President of the United States.
The controversial U.S. leader, who lost reelection bid in the keenly contested November poll, said his largely polarising, polemical and turbulent first tenure was the “greatest first term in presidential history,” CNN quoted a statement by Trump’s senior aide Dan Savino on Thursday to have read
“Even though I totally disagree with the outcome of the election, and the facts bear me out, nevertheless there will be an orderly transition on January 20th,” President Trump was reported to have said in the statement.
“I have always said we would continue our fight to ensure that only legal votes were counted. While this represents the end of the greatest first term in presidential history, it’s only the beginning of our fight to Make America Great Again,” the statement added.
Trump’s accounts on social networking apps Facebook and Twitter were temporarily suspended Wednesday, following what appeared to be a seditious tweet inciting his supporters to invade the U.S. Congress yesterday.
