COVID-19: Lagos Names Top 5 LGAs With High Cases

The Lagos State Government on Tuesday announced the top five local governments areas with high  positive cases of the virulent COVID-19 virus.

The state’s Commissioner of Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, named the top five councils in a post on his official and verified Twitter page.

Ekohotblog reports that the commissioner listed Eti-Osa, Ajeromi, Surulere, Amuwo and Mushin, as local government areas which have recorded more cases than others in the state

In a graphs affixed to the tweet, Eti-Osa has the highest number of positive cases in the state with with 27% of the states’ total infection, put at 34,908 as of Saturday night.

Ajeromi and Surulere ties at 26 percent; while follows with 26 percent, while Amuwo and Mushin tied at 25 percent.

The commissioner also disclosed that the number of COVID-19 positive cases keeps soaring every day.

He noted  that 180 are currently under isolation, with 6,823 undergoing home-based care for the viral infection.

In terms of capacity utilisation of isolation centres in the state, the commissioner stated that 53 percent of the 448 bed spaces have been filled, leaving approximately 215 beds available.

He added that 15 isolation centres are currently active, while seven of them have been shut down.

Those shut down are: Landmark, Agidingbi, Gbagada, FCC, Lagoon, Indo and Onikan. Abayomi tweeted,
