Chelsea had completed the highly touted signing of Fernando Torres from Liverpool for a British record fee earlier that season. The Spaniard had largely underwhelmed for the Blues, with a meagre goal return. However, Torres would be responsible for one of the most important moments of Chelsea’s season and indeed their history come the semi-finals of the Champions League.
The London club drew a Barcelona side who had steamrolled their way to the Champions League title just the previous season. During the injury time at Camp Nou, the ball fell to Torres with half the pitch to himself. The striker deftly took the ball past Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes to complete the upset and make their way to the final of the competition.

The Champions League semi final of 2009 saw one of the most controversial matches in football history unfold between Gus Hiddink’s Chelsea and Pep Guardiola’s Barcelona. Over the course of the game, the Blues were denied multiple penalty shouts, that were contentious to say the least. Andreas Iniesta rifled home a shot from the edge of the box two minutes before time. The final nail in Chelsea’s coffin came when the London club were denied yet another penalty when Michael Ballack’s volley struck Samuel Eto’o on the arm inside the box.
The game ended with a livid Didier Drogba hurling obscenity at the Norwegian referee who had had one of the worst refereeing performances in recent history.

The 2018 Champions League round of 16, presented the footballing world with one of the most bizarre matches of football of all time. Paris Saint Germain had comprehensively defeated Barcelona at the Parc des Princes leaving the Cules with the monumental task of defeating the French giants by a margin of five goals at the Camp Nou.
With 94 minutes played and the score at 5-1 to the home side, Sergi Roberto latched onto a desperate ball into the box, nudging the ball past Kevin Trapp and in the process nudging Barcelona into the quarter final.

It was a tale of redemption for Arjen Robben in 2013, when the Dutchman skipped past several challenges in the injury time of the Champions League final against Borussia Dortmund to score an injury time goal that sealed the title for the Bavarians. Robben was guilty of missing a crucial penalty in the 2012 final, in a game that Bayern would go on to lose to Chelsea. The 2013 edition saw a dynamic Borussia Dortmund side make a comeback to the big leagues under Jurgen Klopp.
Arjen Robben’s goal called an end to one of the most entertaining Champions League finals in recent history.

While the setting of Troy Deeney’s injury time goal against Leicester may not have been the finals of the Champions League, as far as pure entertainment value goes, there are few that can match up to it. The two erstwhile Championship clubs were fighting it out for a place in the playoffs to earn promotion to the Premier League. Leicester won a contentious penalty through Anthony Knockaert’s histrionics and the foxes looked set for a playoff spot.
However, as though fate intervened, Knockaert saw his penalty saved. In the blink of an eye, the ball was falling at the feet of Troy Deeney to volley it home from inside the box.

The 2012 Premier League campaign marked the emergence of a new powerhouse in the Premier League. Manchester City had finally begun to see the fruits of their investment over the years. It was the final game of the campaign and United and City were tied on points. The Reds defeated Sunderland in their final game meaning that City had just minutes to find the back of the net against QPR to claim their first Premier League title.
Sergio Aguero knocked the ball past a QPR defender and walloped it into the QPR goal ensuing chaos at the Etihad stadium.

The 2014 Champions League represented a chance for Real Madrid to become the first club to reach 10 titles. However, there stood in their way a resolute Atletico Madrid side, in the final. A Diego Godin goal in the first half allowed for the Rojablancos to sit back and play their natural game by defending for the majority of the match. However, just as Atletico were preparing their celebrations, Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos rose above the crowd to latch onto a corner to send his side level.
From there on in, Real ran riot in extra time with the game ending by four goals to one.

The words, “And Solskjaer has won it” are forever etched into the memories of United fans the world over. Over the course of his career, the baby-faced assassin had made a name for himself by scoring crucial goals late on in games. Amongst his considerable collection of injury time goals, none stands out more than his goal at the Camp Nou against Bayern Munich in the finals of the Champions League.
United were trailing by a goal to nil in the 91st minute when Teddy Sheringham latched onto a mishit to scratch United level. The 93rd minute saw David Beckham whip in a corner for the Norwegian to power into the roof of the net, winning the Treble for Manchester United.
