A Climate change Non- Governmental Organization, NGO under the auspices of Developmental Association of Renewable Energies, DARE, has unveiled first Solar- Oven in form of Briefcase for baking Bread, cake and other eatable items to reduce environmental pollution with a view to curbing the devastating effect of climate change in the country.
The Director of the Environmental NGO, Engr. Yahaya Ahmed who disclosed this to newsmen at Yelwa Village, Kaduna- Zaria road, said the new technology would help reduced air pollution, save forest trees from extinction due to high demand for charcoal as well as global warming.
He explained that the solar oven device uses the direct energy from sunlight to heat, cook or pasteurize drinks and other food materials within a short period of time.
According to him, the device can cook any kind of foodstuff within a period of 45m-50minute as a result of heat absorption from the sun as it Converts light to heat energy to FasTrack the process.
“The solar oven must be turned towards the sun and left until the food is cooked, turn the oven to face the sun more precisely and to ensure that shadows from nearby buildings or plants have not blocked the sunlight”
Contributing also, The Assistant Director of African climate reporters, Dr Piman Hoffman who applauded the group for a job well done, described the new Solar technology as the easiest and cheapest methodology that would go along way in preserving the environment and the entire eco-system.
He lamented that the traditional bakery systems had contributed to the daily increased in global warming and climate change as a result of gradual extinction of forest trees due to continuous demand of firewood for domestic charcoal and bakery, building, mining among other industrial uses.
