Jurgen Klopp’s side registered a memorable victory against Manchester City at the Etihad in November 2015. The Reds were unstoppable from the very beginning of the match, with their spectacular first-half performance earning them a 3-0 lead by the interval.

Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino both found themselves on the scoresheet after EliaquimMangala’s early own goal. Sergio Aguero reduced the deficit by smashing a goal on half-time but the Cityzens failed to make a comeback in the second half.

This was one of the best matches of Liverpool at Anfield in recent years. Borussia Dortmund struck twice within the opening nine minutes of the match to put themselves in a commanding position, with Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Pierre Emerick Aubameyang both getting on the scoresheet. Divock Origi reduced the deficit just after the break, but Marco Reus’s 57th-minute goal restored the visitors’ emphatic lead.

However, they made a monumental effort one more time and were rewarded with goals from Philippe Coutinho and Mamadou Sakho. The Anfield crowd went ecstatic when Lovren’s header in stoppage time put them ahead on aggregate and thus, they claimed a memorable victory to book a place in the Europa League semi-finals.
