Below are the Names of Top Three Likely Successors of Governor Udom Emmanuel
1) Rt. Hon. Onofiok Luke
Luke, 42 is the immediate past Speaker of the Akwa-ibom State House Of Assembly and the Incumbent Lawmakers representing Etinan/Nsit-Ibom/Nsit-Ubium Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives under the PDP platform.
The Lawyer turned Politician came into limelight after his emergence as President of the Nigerian Youth Council during the Administration of Late Ex-president, Umaru Musa Yar’adua. In 2011, Luke was elected to represent Nsit-Ubium State Consistuency in the Akwa-ibom State House of Assembly, he won a re-election in April 2015 and served meritoriously until May 2019.
- Obong Bassey Albert (OBA)
Albert, 47 is the Senator representing Akwa-ibom North-East (Uyo) Senatorial District in the National Assembly. He hails from Ididep Usuk village, Ibiono ibom Local Government Area of Akwa-ibom State.
The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) lawmaker was first elected into the National Assembly in 2015 and was re-elected during the February 2019 General Elections. Albert, a Banker turned Politician served as Akwa-ibom State Commissioner for Finance during the Godswill Akpabio-led Administration between 2007 and 2015.
- Barrister Ini Emenebong
Emenebong, 37 currently serves as the Akwa-ibom State Commissioner for Information. The Ibiono-born Lawyer, Activist and Politician was a One-time President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS).
Emenebong served in various capacities including as Special Adviser on Student Matters to the immediate past Governor of Akwa-ibom State, Godswill Akpabio from July 2013 to May 2015, Special Adviser on Political Matter to Governor Udom Emmanuel between June 2015 and May 2016, Publicity Secretary of the Akwa-ibom State Chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) from May 2016 to June 2020.
