COVID-19: Ghana Shuts Parliament As 17 Lawmakers Test Positive

Ghana has shut down its parliament for at least three weeks over a surge in coronavirus cases among lawmakers and parliamentary staff.
EKO HOT BLOG gathered the house’s speaker, Alban Bagbin, declared that the legislature would be in recess until March 2 to disinfect and sanitize the premises.
About 17 members of parliament and 151 supporting staff have tested positive for COVID-19.

The speaker said, “I have, in consultation with leadership, decided that sitting of the House be adjourned for three weeks”.
So far, Ghana has confirmed a total of 73,003 COVID-19 cases, resulting in 482 deaths and over 65,000 recoveries.
