A diesel-laden tanker driver was on Friday burnt to death during an explosion at Atoyo, outbound Ijebu-Ode on the Ijebu-Ode-Ogbere Expressway in Ogun State.
As gathered by EKO HOT BLOG the Spokesperson for the Ogun Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps, Mr. Babatunde Akinbiyi, confirmed the incident to journalists in Abeokuta.
Akinbiyi explained that the accident which occurred at 10:45 am was caused by reckless driving by the trucker driver alone.

He said, “According to an eyewitness, it was learned that the driver of the Deisel-laden tanker was driving recklessly when it suddenly lost control and fell on its side with its content spilling on the road before it exploded.
“The maker and registration number of the tanker could not be ascertained due to the level of explosion.
Akinbiyi appealed to articulated vehicle drivers, especially tanker drivers, to avoid reckless driving, speeding, and drunk driving.
He advised them to have adequate rest before embarking on any journey to avoid accidents.
