Hon. Wale Raji To Address Odo Temu Electricity Woes
In furtherance of his drive to deliver quality representation, one that’s rooted in the spirit of selflessness and altruism, to his constituents, lawmaker representing Epe at the house of representatives, honourable Wale Raji, has vowed take up and address the issue of epileptic power supply bedevilling Odo Temu community.
Raji’s gesture was sequel to an appeal by the residents for higher capacity transformer to tackle the issue of low voltage which the current transformer produces.
They made plea during a tour of the town by the lawmaker to monitor the intervention projects embarked upon by him, part of which included construction of block of classrooms and primary and secondary schools.
The residents bemoaned the electricity situation in the community, describing the situation as pathetic and abysmal.
To better capture the gloomy atmosphere, they averred that the electric current output is so low that it could hardly charge a mobile phone.
Responding to the appeal, the Federal Lawmaker lamented the quagmire which trailed the Privatisation of power by the previous Government, noting that communities continue to suffer despite the considerable expenses shelled out on electricity. He however promised to address the situation.
” As a member of the Power Committee, it is fraudulent for communities or the Government to buy transformers for DISCOS. The situation is like a transporter demanding money from passengers to buy him tyres. There are issues with the privatisation of the power sector by the past Government.
“Privatisation was meant to attract investment to that sector rather than being dependent on Government. Billions of Naira have been spent and yet communities continue to suffer. But on a second thought, I realised that since the people will be the one to suffer the consequences, by the special grace of God, we will address the problem of power supply here. We assured you of quality representation and the difference is clear, it has shown that you have made the right choice “, he averred.
