LASTVEB To Launch Skill Acquisition Programme In Lagos
- LASTVEB is set to train youths in Software and Hardware Service Engineering across the state.
- The programme is aim to develop the skills of interested youths in software and hardware engineering in computers and any technical skills.
The Lagos State Technical and Vocational Education Board (LASTVEB) has entered into a partnership agreement with SLOT Foundation and Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Internationale Organisationen (GIZ) towards the training of youths in Software and Hardware Service Engineering across the state.
The Executive Secretary of LASTVEB, Ms. Moronke Azeez, stated that the Board is focused on public-private partnerships with notable organisations to achieve the Lagos State T.H.E.M.E.S. Development Agenda.
She asserted that the tripartite partnership aims to develop the skills of interested youths in software and hardware engineering in computers and any technical skills.
Ms. Azeez explained that the partnership between LASTVEB, GIZ and SLOT, which is expected to commence in April, has been in the works for six months to ensure that the curriculum and training to be delivered meets global best standards and the 21st-century industry requirements.

The Executive Secretary explained that LASTVEB created the Skills for Work programme, a short term vocational training programme, to equip youths between 15 and 24 years old with viable skills for immediate employment.
She stressed that one of the objectives is to deliver employable skills to Lagos citizens as it oversees technical and vocational education in the State.
She, however, stated that there are five technical colleges across the State consisting of over 8,000 students between the ages of 15 and 18 years old.
