Iyaloja-General: My Mother Was Embodiment Of Morality – Prof. Nosiru Onibon

The Provost, Michael Otedola College of Primary Education, Noforija-Epe Division, Associate Professor Nosiru Onibon says his mother, late Alhaja Mulikat Onibon, was a paragon of virtue.
He disclosed this in an interview with Ekohotblog after the interment of the Iyaloja-General of Epe division.

Nosiru, alongside his siblings, also relieved the fond and gracious memories of their endearing mother during her lifetime.
As regard her active political participation, Nosiru Onibon said it dates as far back as the UPN / NPN era. While he disclosed that his mum was the woman leader in Epe for NPN, he also said that in 1983, she mobilized and supported the emergence of Late Alhaji Lateef Jakande as Lagos State Governor.

Besides, he stated that the Iyaloja-General of Lagos, Late Alhaja Abibatu Mogaji knows her very well and also during Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s regime as Lagos State Governor, they were together. He recalled that whenever Asiwaju Bola Tinubu visited Epe, he would ask for Alhaja Onibon.
Her leadership acumen as Iyaloja-General of Epe Division was also pointed out in an altruistic manner. Associate Professor Onibon said:

” Annually, market women association for Epe Division would get Hajj slots from the State and my mum refused to share any within her family and not even herself. She would spread it among the market women. I’m privy to the fact that almost half of them got to Hajj through my mum. Even when she wanted to renew her Hajj, she refused to use Government slot, she insisted her children must sponsor her Hajj which we did in 2009″.
Professor Onibon credited the respect for her beloved mother by the youths to her accessibility, good neighbourliness, rich character and generosity.
Reacting to the massive crowd who graced her interment, Professor Onibon attributed such gesture to emotional deposit, stating that she reaped what she had sown.

In the same vein, Hon Onibon Bariu immensely appreciated everyone who graced the event. He recalled how his endearing mother took good care of almost ten of his friends back in his secondary school days. Being the closest to her, he stated that he would miss his beloved mother more.
For her part, Kafayat Onibon, Iyaloja-General’s only daughter, also revealed to Ekohotblog that her mother was a disciplinarian, a unifier and a family person, who always look out for the welfare of other people. She expressed elation at the kind of good life she lived noting that she was not the type who hold grudges.
