Finally, Zamfara Gov. Reveals Brain Behind Jangebe Students Abduction
Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara State has divulged the identity of one of the persons who orchestrated the abduction of the Government Girls’ Secondary School, GGSS, in Jangebe area of the State.
Recall that 279 students of the school located in Talata Mafara Local Government Area of State were abducted when bandits stormed the town last Friday.
But the government secured their release on Monday evening after negotiating with the abductors.
The governor had on Sunday said Nigerians will be stunned if he revealed the identity of those behind the abduction.
The remarks was greeted with immense pressure mounted on him to disclose those he said were behind the abduction and insecurity in the state, the Arewa Consultative Forum had said the governor will be treated as an accomplice if he fails to apprise the public of the names of the perpetrators.
Speaking when he featured on Channel Television programme, ‘Politics Today’, on Wednesday, Matawalle said the school security guard was of those who masterminded the abduction.
The governor disclosed that the students identified the security guard of the school as one of those behind the abduction.
He said the bandits sent their regard to the watchman through the schoolgirls when they were released, adding they the bandits mentioned his name.
Matawalle stated that the bandits said the watchman aided their actions and helped in the smooth and seamless execution of their abduction plan.
He said: “The security agents in the state are aware that when we were trying to rescue these children without paying ransom, other people were behind talking to them that money will be given to them that they shouldn’t release them to the state government.
“The children have mentioned the watchman of the school, that after releasing them, the bandits were telling them that they should greet the watchman for them, they even mentioned his name that he was the one who gave them the go-ahead to come, he was involved.
“The schoolgirls have said this before the commissioner of police in Zamfara State.”
