BREAKING: Court Strikes Out EFCC Application To Forfeit Saraki’s Properties

  • Senator Saraki confirmed that the application seeking the forfeiture of his properties was rejected by the court
  • The court declared that the agency failed to support its claims with evidence

The former Senate President of Nigeria who was also a former Governor of Kwara State, Senator Bukola Saraki in a tweet on Thursday confirmed that the Federal High Court sitting in Lagos had rejected an application seeking the forfeiture of his property on the grounds that it holds no basis.

The Statement Reads:

“Earlier this afternoon, a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos rejected an application brought before it by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in which the agency sought the permanent forfeiture of some of my properties to the Federal Government.

“In its judgment, the Court declared that the agency woefully failed to produce any evidence to support its claims that the properties were paid for with funds sourced from Kwara State Govt House” Saraki added
