Insecurity: Oyo Police Chief Slow, Sentimental – Gani Adams

Iba Gani Adams, the leader of the OPC and the Are Ona Kankanfo of Yorubaland, recently spoke about Nigeria’s security situation, especially what is happening in Yorubaland.

According to him, many Nigerians have been accusing him for not being protective enough of his Yoruba citizens, as he said in a video posted on the internet here, and there are many things that Nigerians are unaware of when it comes to declaring war, which he said he will investigate.

“Many Nigerians who are accusing me of not being involved enough do not understand the Yoruba sense of war declaration,” he started.

You as a leader must not leap to conclusions without involving any massive Yoruba leader, and you must not behave in response to how others pressure you to do something; if Yoruba did not order you to declare war and you do so anyway, you will be held responsible for its sacrifices.

That’s what I’ve learned from working with my Yoruba people.

For example, while we were attempting to construct Amotekun, marauders from various parts of the world began murdering our citizens. As a result, I wrote letters to all of the Yoruba state governors, but no one replied.

I wrote the letters for the second time, yet no response.

Later, I decided to write letters to the kings, and the king of Ilaro was the first to reply, sending a letter to the governor of Ogun state before other governors intervened.

Another Yoruba man, whom I will not name, stood against the process of getting Yorubas together to create Amotekun.

Now that Amotekun has arrived, it is necessary to consult some leaders before declaring war, so that one does not end up blaming himself.”
