  • The popular Martin Luther King Jr was a leader of civil rights movement in United States of America and equally an African American Minister.
  • His activitism gained a strong popularity in 1955.
  • Untill April 1968, when he was assassinated by James Earl Ray.

Martin Luther King was not satisfied with the level of institutionalized segregation between whites and blacks in America, coupled with denial of some rights, and he decided to register his grieves through civil disobedience and non-violence means.

Due to his outspoken nature and his role in demanding for equal rights between whites and blacks made him very famous not only in America but virtually all parts of the world. King was inspired by Gandhi’s activitism of non-violence and also his Christians beliefs.

In 1955, he led a successful Montgomery bus boycott, which gave his activitism that level of popularity and in 1962, he also led a movement against racial discrimination in Albany, Georgia though, it was an unsuccessful outing.

In 1963, King delivered his powerful and famous speech, tagged “I Have a Dream” during a March on Washington, which he was also part of the organizers.

He has won many awards and most popular among them are Nobel Peace Prize in 1964; Presidential Medal of Freedom (Posthumous) in I977; Congressional Gold Medal (Posthumous) in 2004 and among others.

As gathered by EKO HOT BLOG , The killer who was identified as James Earl Ray was an American fugitive and he was born in March 1928.

In1969, Ray was found guilty of assassinating Martin Luther King Jr at the balcony of Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tennessee.

He was sentenced to 99 years in jail, but he died in April 1998, serving only 28 years.
