Meet 15 Year-Old Nigerian Who Defeated Students Across The World To Win Global Maths Competition
- A young Nigerian student has narrated how she brought honour to the country after she defeated contestants from around the world
- She emerged winner of the recent Global Open Mathematics Tournament
- Which had participants from Europe, Africa, America, Asia and Australia
Faith Odunsi, 15 years of age, a Senior Secondary School 3 (SS3) student from Ijebu in Ogun State in an interview narrated her experience as she defeated students from the United Kingdom, United States of America, China, Ghana, Philippines, Indonesia, others at the global maths competition.
She said she was very honored to have won the prize which was a very tense and tough competition considering the number of participants across the globe.
Recounting the stages of the competition, where she scored 66 points in the first stage – computer based.
She also scored 66 points in the second stage. This involved the participants answering many questions in one hour.
The quarter and semi finals stages were on Microsoft themes and rewarded the first person to key in the correct answer and earn 10 points.
In total she scored 40 points with the first runner up scoring 10 points, a whooping gap of 30 points!.
She also noted that she has participated in other mathematics competitions from her time in Junior Secondary School as she was made the Queen of Maths in a National Olympiad having won a medal, EKO HOT BLOG gathered.
