We Are Gradually Recovering From Effect Of COVID-19- Cinema Manager
The Manager, Viva Cinema, Enugu, Mr Nnaji Azu says that cinemas are gradually recovering from the effects of COVID-19 following the reopening of U.S.A and UK cinemas.
Azu said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Enugu.
According to him, the movies shown in Nigerian cinemas are mainly from abroad, adding that the reopening of cinemas in US and UK would make cinema business return to normal.

He recalled that COVID-19 affected them so greatly as they were regulated by the task force on COVID-19 to reduce movie capacity for each movie shown.
“We were asked to reduce our cinema capacity by 45 per cent, that is, if movie capacity is about 180, we take only 90, we take only 45 to ensure social distancing.
“The business suffered mostly because we were down for six months and we are not like Netflix that one can be at home to subscribe and get patronage.

“In cinema, you need to have one on one contact with your customers,” Azu said.
The manager also expressed satisfaction on the level of patronage by movie lovers in Enugu.
“Enugu people are Hollywood movie lovers, so when Hollywood movies are released, their patronage is always high.
“We also have good Nollywood blockbuster movies like ‘Living in Bondage’, ‘Omo Ghetto’, Chief Daddy’ and ‘King of Voice’ they patronize,” he added.
Azu explained that the location of cinemas was an added advantage.
“Viva cinema is situated at the ‘heart’ of Enugu state at Government Reserve Area (GRA) which is the centre of Enugu and it is connected to different parts of the state.
“Secondly, it is cited in a mall which made it to thrive,” he said.
VIVA Cinemas is a movie theater offering wide variety of Nollywood and Hollywood blockbuster movies in Nigeria, Eko hot blog gathered.
It is located in five cities in Nigeria, which are Ilorin, Ibadan, Ikeja, Ota and Enugu.
