Bonta Boys: An Emerging Terror Group That Killed Nigerian Soldiers In Benue State
Military report on Bonta boys that murdered the 12 soldiers and attacked a military dispatch sent to Bonta the following day put their numbers above 500 armed youths.
The 12 soldiers killed in Bonta village in Konshisha Local Government Area of Benue State have been buried. Findings surrounding their death continue to unravel certain realities that many did not know of.
Benue state has had a good share of killings and counter killings. Even the governor escaped an attempt on his life recently. The existence of different militia groups might not be news to many but to learn that one of such groups actually killed 11 soldiers and an officer will put many in despair.
Accorfing to reports, Bonta Boys are responsible for the murder of 12 soldiers buried in Military Cemetery, Wurukum, Makurdi.
Bonta boys is named after a community called Bonta. The group was formed to check and respond to inter community clashes arising from land encroachment and other sundry issues.
This group has been in arms conflict with the Okpute community over land matters. In recent times, they were said to have attacked the Okpute community while worshipping in the church during Easter, killing many.
EKO HOT BLOG gathered that the group has long gone rogue. It has sort, and acquired collaboration with another bandit group. The bandit group has aided and changed their initial goal. Thus, they are the next terror group on the block.
Bonta boys decision to take on military personnel and their past raids on Okpute community points to the reality of an emerging terror group.
