Osun, Sokoto And 3 Other State Residents On Highest Alert As Govts Warn Of ‘Serious’ Danger
- NAFDAC, a food and medicine control agency, is still alerting Nigerians not to buy or eat products that are not registered.
- However, some Nigerians still don’t bother to verify the NAFDAC number and the expiry date of products prior to consumption.
There has been an outbreak in Kano state and it has spread to 13 local governments of the state. After the completion of the investigations concerning the outbreak, it has been discovered that an expired and unregistered fruit juice is in circulation.
This drink has led to the death of 10 people in Kano and 400 others have been hospitalised. For this reason the Kano state government has urged other states in Nigeria to be vigilant and check fruit juices thoroughly before consumption.
All 400 people admitted to the hospital are showing symptoms like bloody urine, fever, sleeplessness and sometimes yellowing of the eyes which is also known as jaundice.
According to reports, some states have issued a warning to residents, they pleaded with residents to be wary and vigilant of any juice drink at this period.
Lagos state commissioner Mr Gbenga Omotoso, has made an important announcement to residents, he warned them to check the expiry dates of the products they consume, EKO HOT BLOG gathered.
An aide to Governor Oyetola on Public Health, Dr Siji Olamiju, has announced that Osun residents should be careful not to consume any product they are unfamiliar with at this period.
Also , the Cross River state government has called for vigilance from residents and urged them to report any incident to the Ministry of Health.
Sokoto state on the other hand stated that there is inadequate information on the fake juice but notwithstanding, they have never lowered their guard on the issue.
