How Lagos & Ogun Teams Exchanged Blows After A Boxing Match At Recent National Sports Festival
Things took a difficult turn at the just concluded National Sports Festival pandemonium broke out after a boxing match between Lagos and Ogun state teams.
There was tension in the boxing session of the National Sports Festival in Edo on Tuesday as the boxing officials, supporters and boxers of Team Ogun went berserk, destroying facilities and attacking Team Lagos and referee after being defeated.
According to reports, Team Lagos boxer, Shittu Afolabi, and Ogun boxer, Kasali Abayomi, in the 52kg category ended in 3-2 split decision which went in favour of the Lagos boxer.
The decision of the umpire didn’t go down well with Team Ogun and as a result, attacked the referee and Team Lagos physically. They also decended on sports facilities, EKO HOT BLOG gathered.
In a video that was posted online, some angry persons were seen destroying properties while others were physically attacking each other.
Team Delta emerged winners of the 2020 National Sports Festival with a total of 158 gold, 116 silver, and 110 bronze, which held in Edo State with Team Edo coming second with 129 gold, 104 silver, and 108 bronze while Team Bayelsa finished in third place with 56 gold, 55 silver, and 58 bronze. .
Sokoto and Taraba states were the bottom two teams with only three and two bronze medals to place 36th and 37th respectively.
