Gov Uzodinma Urges Imo Residents To Ignore Sit-At-Home Order

Nigerian politics is characterised by violence. Inordinate quest for power by politicians and incidents of political disagreements often lead to violence.

Nigeria’s security continues to deteriorate while the government looks helpless. If criminals are emboldened enough to attack the homes of prominent politicians, despite the huge presence of security, one can imagine the fate of the average masses.

(1.) Governor Hope Uzodinma

The governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma, is the latest victim of this targeted violence. His country home was attacked on Saturday, April 24, by unknown gunmen. The gunmen also killed two security men on duty before setting part of the property on fire.

Reacting to the incident, the Imo state government claimed the attack was politically motivated.

(2.) Former president Goodluck Jonathan

In December 2019, the country home of former President Goodluck Jonathan in Otuoke, Bayelsa State, was attacked.

The attack which was carried out on a security post about 100 metres away from Jonathan’s house led to the death of an unnamed soldier.
