#BoycottThePlatform: Nigerians Kick Against El-Rufai’s Invitation To Speak At Symposium
- Recall that El-Rufai was kicked off a Nigerian Bar Association’s (NBA) conference last year due to his contentious religious sentiments…
An invitation sent to Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, may be withdrawn as many persons, presumably Christians, have taken to social media to protest against his inclusion as a speaker at the event.
Social media users on Twitter, using the hashtag #BoycottThePlatform, which has since garnered over 7,500 tweets on the microblogging site, have insisted that the governor cannot speak at the event because of what they described as his hatred for Christians.

They also cited the removal of a former deputy governor of Kaduna State, Barnabas Bantex, accusing El-Rufai of plotting his removal because he is a Christian.
Recall that El-Rufai was kicked off a Nigerian Bar Association’s (NBA) conference last year due to his contentious religious sentiments and perceived disregard for human rights.

Thousands of lawyers signed a petition on change.org that the Kaduna governor be removed from the conference due to his poor human rights track record and how he threatened that any foreign observer who intruded in the state’s elections would leave the state in ‘body bags’.

Dear @pastorpoju ,if the NIgerian Bar Association could rescind the invitation for @elrufai a well known purveyor of hate and violence with unbidden hate towards Christians I see no reason why the Church of Jesus Christ should have him on their stage #BoycottThePlatform pic.twitter.com/NXtPvlTaKp

No sane persons or organization will think of inviting a murder like @elrufai or even @GovWike in any leadership program. @elrufai is not different from many oppressors of Christians worldwide.#BoycottThePlatform

#BoycottThePlatform I find it ludicrous that some like @elrufai could be invited to be the platform. It is a big NO for me

I suspect @pastorpoju would likely have sent this invitation much earlier than today, possibly just after the last platform when @elrufai was interviewed on covid. Should Christians be mr tolerant in a secular country like ours? Esp 4 an importnt topic as this #BoycottThePlatform https://t.co/gcC9IdBzbL

El Rufai should only be allowed on #ThePlatform if @pastorpoju and other guests will promise to ask El-rufai inconvenient questions about the state of the nation and every statement he has said in the past.#BoycottThePlatform

If El-Rufai needed a church organised event to speak at, he could have gone to the funeral service at ECWA of those university students killed in Kaduna.
But he did not, and did not even send a representative.#BoycottThePlatform

Don't sugar coat anything El-Rufai has sufficient materials online to show he is an ethnic jingoist, a bigot and a dangerous man. #BoycottThePlatform

NBA distanced itself from the divisive Elrufai, for GOOD REASON. Apart from superintending the killing of Christians in Southern Kaduna, & his “body bags” statement, El-Rufai have no legitimacy being among a congregation of brethrens. We are unequally yoked!!#BoycottThePlatform
