Evil Men Have Invaded Ebonyi To Kill, Plunder – Gov. Umahi
- “God has not given us the spirit of fear and I ask: who is there to stop me?”
David Umahi, governor of Ebonyi, has raised alarm over the incursion of those he described as ‘evil men’ into the state.
Speaking during a prayer session held in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi capital, Umahi said these forces of evil sought to wreak havoc in the state by unleashing terror on residents.
The prayer session organised by the government over the deepening security crisis in the state, south east and the country.
Umahi said he will not to give in amid overwhelming insecurity, nor will he stop visiting and inspecting ongoing projects.
He averred that the average Ebonyi residents was happy with his government and no one would accuse him of not fulfilling his mandate to the people.
“Evil men have infiltrated our state to kill, maim and kidnap but God would deliver us,” he said.
“I believe strongly that an average Ebonyi person is happy with our administration and no one would accuse us of not performing.
“God has not given us the spirit of fear and I ask: who is there to stop me?
“We will walk the streets of Abakaliki without security as I will become sick if I don’t go for projects’ inspection.”

Ebonyi has witnessed inexorable rise in criminal activities and violent attacks in recent times with attendant mindless killings of its residents, Over 18 people have died in Ebonyi in the past few weeks as the security situation worsen
On March 30, at least 15 people were killed following attacks by gunmen on some communities in Ishielu LGA of the state.
Gunmen also killed three police officers in Abakaliki on April 15.
Barely 48 hours ago, Abaomege police station, in Onicha LGA of the state, was attacked with some officers confirmed injured and hospitalised.
