No Shame In Losing To Madagascar -Rohr
As many Nigerians continue to wail about the humiliating loss of the Super Eagles against Madagascar on Sunday, Nigeria coach, Gernot Rohr, seems to accept it as normal.
Reacting to the 2-0 loss, a match that saw the minnows beat their illustrious opponents who have won the Nations Cup three times in their history to the top spot in Group B, Rohr said there is no shame in losing to such a team.
“We lost to a good team because Madagascar was the first to qualify for the tournament and there is no shame in losing to such a team,” Rohr said, adding:
“Madagascar was the better team today. We started with giving them a gift and after, we could not find a solution. We made five changes because we wanted to give a rest to some players and also preserve those with cards.”
While he only stopped short of blaming the players, he admitted that qualifying already from the second match might have played a role in the encounter.
“Sometimes it happens when you are already qualified; the players are relaxed and playing easy,” he enthused.
